With No.30 Army Wagon, Benbros began creating military models in the Mighty Midgets series by re-colouring and re-issuing earlier items, in this case No.23 Delivery Van. Both the AEC and Bedford versions were used and more details of these can be found on No.23 page.

The AEC Monarch variations were issued first and were painted olive-green including the wheels and axles, possibly an overpaint of No.23 models. Silver trim was added to the grille and headlights but no decals were put on. Later, unpainted metal wheels were used. All the AEC versions had nail-head & crimped axles.

Then the AEC No.30 had a change of colour to matt army-green, again with silver trim and unpainted metal wheels. This time a black & yellow square-shaped decal was added on the side of the body, usually positioned at the lower front corner of the left side. 

The model based on the Bedford 'S-type' truck had a different range of colours from the AEC version and always carried a red & yellow square-shaped decal on the left side of the body, usually at the front but sometimes at the rear.

The initial colour of the Bedford was a glossy army-green with silver trim on the grille, headlights and bumper at the front and unpainted metal wheels on round-head & crimped axles. Next a matt variation in army green was issued, again with metal wheels and silver trim.

The final variation of No.30 Army Wagon was a much brighter green than earlier ones, with black plastic wheels, silver trim and a red & yellow decal.

The Mighty Midget box for No.30 Army Wagon showed a picture incorrectly of No.31 Covered Wagon with a canvas tilt.

Despite being a 're-run' model, the various colours make No.30 interesting to collect and some variations are quite hard to track down.
