Benbros Mighty Midgets
No.36 Royal Mail Land Rover
Third of the Benbros Mighty Midget Land Rovers was a bright red version No.36 Royal Mail.
This had the same castings as No.34 AA Land Rover and No.35 Army Land Rover but with 'Royal Mail' and 'EIIR' added to both sides of the body. It was painted all over the same red colour including wheels and axles, and with the front grille and bumper being trimmed in silver.
Including a mail-van in the range was a nice addition to the Mighty Midgets but from a collecting viewpoint it was restricting. For a start the model could only be painted in one colour, the red livery of the British postal service, and having 'Royal Mail' on each side prevented it from being re-issued under another title.
As a result the Royal Mail Land Rover was the only model in the Benbros Mighty Midget Series to have no variations in castings or colour.
No.36 Royal Mail Land Rover is not common and so examples carry a higher value than the other Mighty Midget Land Rovers.
