Britains Lilliput Vehicle Series
LV/620 Army 3-Ton Open Truck
Issued 1956-1960 Length 80mm 'OO/HO' scale (1:76)
The last of the Lilliput Vehicles was a military item which made use of the earlier Army 3-Ton Covered Truck (LV/607) but this time issued without the cover. Britains also removed the rear towhook and with this model added a U.S.Army variation.
Based on the Bedford RL vehicle, details of the model casting are outlined on the LV/607 page.
There were two main colours for LV/620. The first was a glossy Army-Green with silver trim on the headlights. On some models a Star decal was added to the cab roof.
The second colour was a semi-matt olive-green or NATO-Green (NATO standing for North Atlantic Treaty Organisation). Again, some models had a Star decal on the roof and there was also an American version which had a Star decal on the cab, U.S.Army decals added to the cab doors, and a small star and the number 23 placed on the bonnet below the windscreen. The headlights were finished with silver trim.
LV/620 was sold in the standard open fronted box with a diorama insert to which the model was secured. The model name and number were printed on one end-flap.
This last version of the Bedford truck is fairly easy to find but the box is scarce.
