Budgie Miniatures
No.61 Q Car
The last Budgie Miniatures model was a re-cycled version of No.15 Austin Countryman with a revised base. It was issued in 1967 and made by Modern Products.
No.61 Q Car had a body casting identical to the earlier model but the base lettering was altered to include 'Q Car' and a revised 'No.61'.
The first issue was gloss-black with spray applied silver trim to the grille and headlights. There was no rear trim. The silver-painted base included the front and rear bumpers and had the changed lettering. The wheels were black plastic.
The second issue was a rich metallic blue with silver trim, silver base and revised lettering.
No.61 Q Car was issued in blue Budgie blister-packs (often with paper labels) and later in Toy House packs in the US. It was also included in Budgie triple blister-pack No.98b Utility Vehicle Set.
The black variation is quite common but the metallic blue one is more scarce.
